HORSESHOE WIRE PROTECTORS (AKA WIRE GUARDS)

Horseshoe wire protectors are used to finish off the loop which resides between the crushed crimp and the clasp.

Remember: We never push the crimp all the way to the clasp. We also leave a loop.

This loop is your support system. It creates jointedness. It allows the clasp part to move freely, so it does not get stuck in one place. If it were to get stuck in one place, we would have metal bending back and forth, as the jewelry is worn. Metal bending back and forth breaks.

In fact, I would suggest you always use a horseshoe wire protector, anytime you are crimping.
